John Stephens (lahir pada 28 Desember 1978) atau lebih dikenal dengan nama panggungnya John Legend, adalah seorang penyanyi American soul, penulis lagu, dan pianis. Dia sudah memenangkan Grammy Awards sebanyak 6 kali Sebelum merilis debut albumnya, jalan kerja Legend mendapatkan momentum sukses lewat kolaborasi dengan beberapa artis.

Khususnya, Legend dan The Hooks untuk hitsnya Slum Village ("Selfish", yang juga dinyanyikan bersama Kanye West, Jay-Z ("Encore") dan Dilated Peoples ("This Way", yang juga dinyanyikan bersama Kanye West); permainan pianonya di Lauryn Hill's "Everything Is Everything"; dan bersama penyanyi latar Alicia Keys' pada 2003 dengan lagu yang berjudul "You Don't Know My Name" dan Ford Minor's "High Road".
